Area Coordination
In 2008, the El Cerrito/Kensington CERT Program will be launching an aggressive campaign to better establish community preparedness. While neighborhood organization will always be the cornerstone of our program, we will be launching a program to prepare our communities by organizing areas rather than specific neighborhoods. It is the intention of the Area Coordination Program to organize our communities in accordance with current voting precincts. Moreover, by organizing according to area rather than specific neighborhoods the Fire Department will be in a position to better support community preparedness. In addition, it is the intention of the El Cerrito/Kensington CERT Program to work intensely with local amateur radio operators from the Kensington Amateur Radio Operators (KARO) and RACES to establish a community emergency communications network which will have locations established within the designated areas.
